The next thing we have to do is enter the ID or name of our departure airport, in our example EHLE. Notice the rounded shoulders on the input boxes; these input boxes are called PAIMs (PocketFMS Advanced Input Methods), and once double-clicked a large keyboard appears that's even usable in the roughest of air. The keyboard is adapted to the PAIM that opened it, so a PAIM expecting numeric input will pop a numeric keyboard.
These PAIMs also take care of on-the-fly unit conversions, so °C, °F, miles, kilometers, liters, gallons, it doesn't matter what you enter. Of course you can set a default for the units you prefer to use.
You can just type the ID. After typing / selecting at least 3 characters, it is possible to use the drop-down function to produce a list of possible starting points. Notice our planned speed has already been set to our aircraft's cruising IAS. PocketFMS bases this on the last used aircraft profile, which you can define or modify yourself.
